Swift by name... and by nature Andrew Baillie | The West Australian Tuesday, 10 April 2018 7:52AM The Suzuki Swift Sport is a brilliant little car in fact, its one of the best things Ive driven in ages. Its brand spanking new, with lots of modern design features and tech, but I couldnt help but fall in love with its old-school driving charm. Quite simply, every time I turned on the ignition and heard the engine spring into life with a metallic rasp, a smile spread across my face and didnt go away. In fact several times, when I had reached my destination, I just kept on driving. I didnt want the fun to stop. So whats so good about it? Well, the steering is go-kart precise, with a quarter turn of the wheel getting you round corners in most instances. And when you are going round them theres great grip and balance. Once you factor in the turbo lag this Swift is swift. Yes, it only does the 0-100km/h sprint in 8.0 seconds but its off-the- line nippiness is great, helped by losing 80kg compared with the previous generation. And because youre in a light car it feels faster.
